March 11 Wednesday Drive to Sante Fe

Today is our half way done vacation day. We had a long drive (3 1/2 hours) to Sante Fe this morning. Along the drive surfaced mountains in the distance with snow still on top of them. It's enough to make you shiver!

The weather forecast for the next two days has some rain in it so we scanned our list of places to see and picked some outdoor places. First stop was the St. Francis Cathedral.

Secondly, we went to the Loretto Chapel. This chapel is unique because of the staircase that winds upwards for 6 metres with 33 steps that makes two complete 360o turns. The spiral has no nails or center support, only its perfect craftmanship keeps it aloft.

By this time, we could check into our Americas Best Value Inn. It seems nice and has a pool and hot tub that we may check out later.
