Friday, June 20 St. Johns

After a filling breakfast of Eggs Benedict on an English Muffin, along with 2 good sized pieces of ham, we set out for Signal Hill. We drove up to the top and the first thing we saw were Icebergs, two of them! I was so happy and amazed. They were beautiful. We finished the Geo Centre and moved on to see the Basilica Cathedral Church which was completed in 1855. The church was quite beautiful and we were a little taken aback to find something this large and ornate with lots of stained glass windows. As nice as the church was, we were really blown away by a marble statue of the Virgin Mary in the building next door. Further exploration of the city revealed many groups of coloured houses and much construction (felt right at home). We also walked along the waterfront, checking out some shops, restaurants and the fishing boats in the harbour. It was nice but I would say we were underwhelmed. The most relaxing part of our day was eating our Mr. Sub on the deck outside the B&B. We will be moving on tomorrow.
